One state. One app. Total access.
JANATA is the citizen front door. Every Karnataka service, document, payment, grievance, and public dashboard — in your pocket. Built for residents who have smartphones AND residents who don't.
Same backend. Four front doors. JANATA is one of them.
The operating spine exposes four open-source front doors — one per audience. JANATA is the citizen door. The same backend serves the others: officers see workflow, firms see procurement & tax, civil society sees APIs and bulk data.
JANATA PROTOTYPE
Services, documents, payments, grievances. Interactive prototype — nothing is saved. Currently English; ಕನ್ನಡ, offline and assisted access are release targets, not shipped features.

Business Portal COMING SOON
Tender filing, compliance reports, tax filing, scheme participation.
Civil Society Interface COMING SOON
Open APIs, bulk data, audit access, independent verifier mode.
Four promises JANATA does not break.
🔑 One app, one login
Multi-language is a release target: Kannada and English at launch, minority languages on a published trajectory. The current prototype is English-only. Voice and accessibility options are first-class — not retro-fitted.
🫱 Assisted-access parity
Every service available on JANATA is also available, with the same SLA, through Panchayat Service Centres (rural) and ward kiosks (urban) under a trained operator. Assisted access is permanent, not transitional.
📶 Offline-first design
Forms cached, status updates synced when network returns, queue management resilient to intermittent connectivity. The architecture treats low connectivity as a design constraint, not an edge case.
⚖️ No silent rejections
Every adverse decision carries reason, rule, and appeal path in plain language. The right to contest is not a feature — it is the floor.
Every citizen, every role they hold.
JANATA isn't a single template. Every resident automatically gets role cards for every aspect of their relationship with the state — Citizen, Farmer, Patient, Learner, Worker. Each role surfaces what's relevant for that role; nothing more, nothing less.
🪪 Citizen role
Every resident. Identity, certificates, payments, grievances, voting, ration card, public services.
🌾 Farmer role
Farmer Case File, soil-test, KCIF claims, KSAMB price tickers, slot booking, agricultural extension.
🩺 Patient role
UMRS health record, KUHE entitlement state, Mobile Clinic visits, Catastrophic Care Fund eligibility, scheme integrations.
📚 Lifelong-learner role
KPB content recommendations, learning calendar, museum visit records, civic-service log, role-card under the Learning State.
🛠️ Worker role
Skill credentials, apprenticeship records, employment-linked benefits, MGNREGA payment status, vocational programmes.
🤝 Volunteer role
Civil-society auditor, public verifier node operator, public consultation participant. Lives on the Civil Society Interface backend.
JANATA ships in published phases.
Every service that goes onto JANATA also has the same SLA at the assisted-access counter — no resident is forced onto the app to get fast service.
