What appears here, what stays private

Public on this page: contributor first name + last initial, contribution amount. That's it.

Collected but private (visible only to founder + accountant): full name, PAN, email, phone, txn ID, date. Used only for receipts, ledger matching, and personal ITR filing.

Name withheld on request: every contributor gives their full name and PAN, which we hold on record; a contributor may ask for their name not to be displayed, in which case the entry shows "Name withheld" with the amount.

Spend disclosure — coming soon

Line-item spend disclosure begins once TPM's legal entity is registered.

Until then, contributions are received in the founder's personal capacity, declared on personal ITR as "income from other sources," and used for domain names, hosting, translation, printing, reading-group venues, and the tools behind the party site + JANATA app.

This is deliberate: partial spend accounting is worse than none. Once the legal entity exists with a clean current account, every rupee out gets a receipt on this page.

Self-imposed rules

  • Per-contributor cap: ₹500 / month (₹6,000 / year). Kept smaller than the future party rule to keep entry accessible.
  • No cash. No anonymous cash. No foreign. No corporate. No government employee. No PSU.
  • Full name + PAN required so we can match your contribution to the ledger.
  • Nothing you give buys influence over the manifesto or a slot in the party once formed.

How the ledger works

Questions, answered directly

What is the Open Ledger?
A public record of every rupee received and spent, rather than one audited years later. Line-item spend disclosure begins once TPM's legal entity is registered. Each entry carries an amount, a date, a purpose and the name of whoever authorised it.
How is this different from existing transparency portals?
Existing portals publish selected data after the fact, usually in formats that resist comparison. The Open Ledger is designed to be complete, machine-readable and current, with the same standard applied to the party's own money as to the government's.
What stays private?
Donor amounts and dates are published. Personal contact details are not. The rule is that money is public and people's private data is not.
